Public Outreach
As part of the largest public university system in the world, the CNLM takes its public service mission very seriously. We believe strongly that it is our responsibility to share the knowledge gleaned from our research with the members of our community. Our programs include:
Public lecture series – Since 1995, the CNLM has organized a major public lecture series presented at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. These lectures bring the world's leading neuroscientists to Irvine to share their research and insights on a number of health-related topics.
For Kids and Teachers - The CNLM provides laboratory tours, by appointment, for local elementary and secondary schools, as well as for college and senior citizen groups. We also send our postdoctoral researchers and graduate students into local classrooms as part of Brain Awareness Week each March.
The Friends of the Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory is the official support group of the Center and another way in which we reach out to the community. Center Friends enjoy a number of special benefits, including invitations to the Evenings to Remember, an exclusive opportunity to hear about the latest research findings of CNLM scientists.
